[Review] Top 3 selection of Onsen in Bangkok

Hello, everyone I am Chifumi Maeda, a Japanese female president living in Bangkok.

Thank you, guys, for visiting this

“True comments from Japanese female presidents living in Thailand” blog.

I’d like to talk to you about 3 Onsen located in the City of Bangkok.

I am a person who sits in bathtub every day. Yes I love bathing.

The best one in Thailand, if you ask me, would be the one in Krabi that I wrote about the other day however,

it is rather far away from Bangkok….

But do not be discouraged, there are 3 places that you can go now and enjoy the facility

and the atmosphere of Japanese Onsen here in Bangkok!

I have been to all the 3 Onsen myself and I go there quite frequently.

So, let me tell you about each one of them today.

Contents

Yunomori Onsen & Spa

This is the one that taken people by storm to spread the Onsen boom here in Bangkok.

Infront of Yunomori Onsen & Spa

They have 3 branches in Thailand and also a branch in Singapore.

In Thailand, one is located in A Square on Soi 26. The second one is on Sathorn Soi 10.

And the third one is in Banglamung district in Pattaya.

Take a step inside and you will see what you see in local Japanese onsen facility.

Man and Women facility is separated.

You will get a locker key at the reception and I proceed to ladies bath facility.

After passing through the noren-curtain, you will come to changing area.

Thailand do not have the culture to go into Onsen bath naked therefore you will receive disposable bathing wear.

I, as a Japanese person, do not have the culture to take bath in a bathing wear,

I go in naked as all the people in Japan do.

My Thai friend that I was with at the time felt embarrassing to show her naked body to other people,

she wore a bathing wear.

The towels are to be used at free of charge.

We put our clothes in the locker and, onsen bath, here we come.

This place has rather a smaller size locker compared to the other 2 facilities that I am going to tell you later about.

Inside of the bathing facility area, there are place to wash your body, a bathtub, mist sauna, and dry sauna,

The bathtub is filled with the natural onsen (hot-spring) water that came gushing out from

Wat Wangkanai in Kanchanaburi province as well as a Soda bath and Jet bath.

The temperature of the water is about 37℃ – 43 and it differs depending on the bath you choose to bath in.

You can also take a walk outside where they have garden bath.

There is also massage facility as well as a facility to have meal.

Recommendation points and ninus score points of Yunomori Onsen.

Recommendation points

The bathing fee is lower compared to other 2 facilities that I am going to talk about (adult 500B).

The price will be lower if you use promotion such as GoWabi.

Reantal Yukata available. (choices available)

Yunomori Onsen & Spa

Sathorn Soi 10 branch has Japanese Garden as well as Drink Bar for you to spend an entire day there.

Drink bar at Sathorn 10 branch at Yunomori onsen

Rental disposable bathing wear available if you are embarrassed being fully naked.

Sukhumvit Soi 26 has a large parking area.

Minus point

Locker is small and cannot stuff in too much.

Only 1 towel rental per person.

As disposable bathing wears are worn, the water tend to get dirty due may be to hairs sticking on to.

Sathorn Soi 10 has a small parking area and can quickly get full.

Sukhumvit Soi 26 as well as Sathorn Soi 10 are far from BTS station.

PANPURI WELLNESS

Onsen managed by the Thailand proud spa brand “Panpuri”.

Infront of Panpuri wellness

Actually, I always come here after visiting shrine to “pay my respect”.

PANPURI WELLNESS is located on 12th floor of Gaysorn Plaza and in this Gaysorn Plaza,

there stands the statue of Lakshmi and every time I visit the god to pay my respect, I come here to have a bath.

The Lakshmi statue. (Gaysorn Plaza)
The Lakshmi statue. There are many temples around the Gaysorn Plaza. And is as we all know a Power Spot

PANPURI WELLNESS has massage area and yoga studio in addition to its bathing facility

and you can also enjoy healthy juice and meals too.

As it is managed by PANPURI, you can of course pick up Panpuri brand products.

The bathing tub is separated for man and woman. And there is also Private Onsen.

way to Onsen at Panpuri wellness
After passing the reception area you walk further down a long corridor, there is the Onsen

Changing room is the smallest of all the facilities that I am writing about this time and

therefore it can be crowded with people attending the yoga classes depending on the time of the day.

The facility has dry sauna, mist sauna, Jet bath, and Soda Spa as well as 2 kinds of Special Onsen.

It was famous “Hot Spring of KUSATSU ONSEN” from Japan when I was there then.

The temperature is between 37℃ – 43 and Kusatsu onsen’s temperature was kept at 43 which I found rather hot.

Because the distance between washing area and the tub is close from each other,

you can see people washing themselves while you are relaxing in the tub, it was a bit uncomfortable.

Amenities such as shampoo and conditioners are all from Panpuri of course.

You will bath in a disposable bathing wear when you go into the tub.

As it has direct access from BTS Chidlom and thus very convenient,

it has international atmosphere of all the Onsen that I am writing today.

Let me share recommendation points and minus points of PANPURI WELLNESS with you here.

Recommendation points

As it is directly connected with BTS Chidlom, convenient. (Parking place is available too)

Amenities are Panpuri products.

There is Private Onsen. (1,800 baht/30min.)

Minus points

Locker room area is small and can easily be crowded.

Overall bathing facility is small.
(You could say it is compact and functional but…)

Let’s Relax Onsen and Spa Thonglor – Onsen on Sukhumvit

This is the Onsen that I come the most from all the facilities that I am writing today.

Reception at Let's Relax Onsen, Thonglor.

The Onsen that I’ve wrote about earlier aren’t bad at all but,

this one has the most complete bathing facilities and has the biggest area of all.

When I have a business traveler coming over and take them here, they would love it.

This Let’s Relax Onsen and Spa Thonglor gives you the feeling as if you were in Japan.

It is totally a Japanese Onsen (We call it SENTOU in Japan).

Let’s Relax is a massage chain store and there are 18 shops in the City of Bangkok alone.

They are also in Chiang Mai, Pattaya, Phuket, Hua Hin and Krabi in Thailand

and also expanding to abroad such as Myanmar, China, and Cambodia.

The Onsen facility in Bangkok is in Thonglor.

This is Japanese style entrance at Let's Relax onsen Thonglor.
This is Japanese style entrance. Left side is Female, Right side is Male.

You can also enjoy massage after relaxing in onsen.

The Thonglor branch is located on 5th floor of a hotel called Grande Center Point Sukhumvit Thonglor

which is in between Thonglor soi 10 and soi 8.

The 5th floor is the facility from Let’s Relax and the differences with others are;

bedrock bath.

Cooling room.

The resting area is with TATAMI flooring which you can relax in the Japanese style.

It is exactly like the Onsen in Japan, i.e. you bath totally in naked and no disposable bathing wear.

Onsen area at Let's relax Thonglor.

And I think it is a great deal that you can use bedrock bath covered with Pink Salt wall which is included in the bathing fee.

a lady relaxing at bedrock bath covered with Pink Salt wall

Recommendation point

Has bedrock bath.

Changing area and rocker room are big and comfortable.

It is a exact replica of Japanese Onsen.

Has a large washing area which is separated from the bath and people will not be able to see you washing yourself.

Minus point

As they do not have disposable bathing wear for you to use, you may feel embarrassing if you are not used to be seen totally naked.
(I have no problem with it. I am used to Japanese style taking bath fully naked)

It is quite a distance from BTS Thonglor which is quite distance to walk.

Tips to use Onsen comfortably

Every Onsen is equipped with shampoo, conditioner, and body soap.
But there are no facial wash so you need to bring your own if you want to use one.

Not equipped with toner or face cream so take your own if you need one.

You may feel dizziness caused by prolonged hot bath if you are not used to sit long in hot water.
Adjust your bathing time accordingly. And do not forget to hydrate yourself.

Things to take care:

All of the Onsen may ask you to present vaccination certificate, or PCR negative proof.
Please check with the facility before visiting.

Summary

I have today talked about Top 3 Onsen in Bangkok.

Every one of them has its own characteristics.

Please visit them by yourself if time allows and find your favorite Onsen.
