I\u2019d like to talk about Open-Dry-In-Season-Only Italian restaurant <\/p>\n\n\n\n

at Mandarin Oriental Bangkok, \u201cCiao Terrazza\u201d<\/span>.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many think that Bangkok is hot throughout the year however; <\/p>\n\n\n\n

there are hot season, rainy season, <\/p>\n\n\n\n

and dry season and from the end of October \u2013 the end of February is the dry season. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/div>\n\n\n\n

There is almost no rain in this period and the air is dry, <\/p>\n\n\n\n

and the temperature is about 22 degrees <\/p>\n\n\n\n

and if you live long in Thailand, this is the period that you feel cold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/div>\n\n\n\n

I like this dry season the most and am looking forward to dine outdoor during this period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/div>\n\n\n\n

And it is this \u201cCiao Terrazza\u201d that I long to see it open every year among other restaurants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And then, I\u2019ve received a mail from the Mandarin Oriental hotel informing me that<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cCiao Terrazza\u201d is going to open on 14 October <\/p>\n\n\n\n

and of course I do not have any reason not to visit so I went there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cCiao Terrazza\u201d, for your information, <\/p>\n\n\n\n

have not a fixed opening period and differs from year to a year.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

They normally open from mid-October to February next year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unveiling the History of Ciao Terrazza, Mandarin Oriental Bangkok<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Ciao Terrazza is located on the 1st<\/sup> floor of the Mandarin Oriental Bangkok and is facing to the river. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As I\u2019ve mentioned earlier, the restaurant is open only during the dry season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The restaurant applies the traditional Italian cooking method serving Mediterranean dishes <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The restaurant has relatively a casual atmosphere similar to that of The Verandah <\/p>\n\n\n\n

among the restaurants in the Mandarin Oriental Bangkok.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The foods they serve are meats, sea foods, pastas, pizzas, and etc. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

which you can share with your table enjoy it casually which I think is a good point. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Exploring the Ambiance of Ciao Terrazza, Mandarin Oriental Bangkok<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The restaurant is facing to the Chaophraya River, <\/p>\n\n\n\n

on the side where the Mandarin Oriental Bangkok has its own ferry pier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Whenever I dine at Ciao Terrazza with friend(s), just to enjoy the unusual or extraordinary day, <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I recommend the friend(s) to come on the hotel shuttle boat from BTS Saphan Taksin. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/div>\n\n\n\n

When accessing the restraint from the hotel side, <\/p>\n\n\n\n

accessing from Garden Wing is the closest <\/p>\n\n\n\n

but in order to enjoy the atmosphere of the Mandarin Oriental Bangkok, <\/p>\n\n\n\n

walk in front of the hotel passing Bamboo Bar, and walk slowly may be a good idea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The restaurant sits about 50 or so people I think\u2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The seats are places quite distance from each other <\/p>\n\n\n\n

and the tables around you are not at all bothering. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cold wind that is typical during the dry season blows from the river and is very refreshing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The location Mandarin Oriental Bangkok and is along the river <\/p>\n\n\n\n

gives me the feeling of unusual and is very relaxing.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n

And maybe it is because it is in Mandarin Oriental Bangkok, <\/p>\n\n\n\n

the restaurant has gorgeous atmosphere in the calm atmosphere of the hotel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The location is quiet in the normal situation and is relaxing location <\/p>\n\n\n\n

as is in front of Chaophraya river flow and the wind is running through.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the joyful period of Christmas is nearing, <\/p>\n\n\n\n

the riverside will be lively which is also an atmosphere nice to be in.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Gourmet Journey: What to Expect from the Menu at Ciao Terrazza<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

While the dishes respect traditional Italian cooking method, <\/p>\n\n\n\n

it seems they are modernly arranged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/div>\n\n\n\n

The menu is basically ala carte style and every dish are well balanced in saltiness, sweetness, <\/p>\n\n\n\n

and sourness making the high standard of the ingredients stand out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, it is I think a bit too much to enjoy by 1 person.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It probably is a good idea to order several dishes and share them <\/p>\n\n\n\n

among the people in the group so that you can enjoy several foods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I am not found of rich taste foods and especially carbonara is on top of such.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Having said that, carbonara from the Ciao Terrazza is wonderful, <\/p>\n\n\n\n

and I am ordering the dish every year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

They do not have so much variety in their menu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, their dishes are all good no matter what you order, <\/p>\n\n\n\n

you may want to challenge to a menu that you\u2019ve never had in your life yet may well be a good choice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They used to have events together with famous winery <\/p>\n\n\n\n

where you have chance to enjoy wine and good food. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/div>\n\n\n\n

I hope they will restart such events again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dress Code for a Stylish Dining Experience at Ciao Terrazza<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The dress-code is smart casual with long trousers and covered shoes required for gentlemen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Menu is ala carte style.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Food price starts from around 500 baht per dish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wine price starts from 1,600 baht.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Per glass is also available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We paid 3,500 baht with 2 persons, with a bottle of wine and 2 dishes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Service charge of 10% and 7% VAT is payable.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As it is open only in the dry season, you can dine in a cool and fresh climate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Very nice atmosphere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Good foods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Relatively casual among the restaurants in the Mandarin Oriental Bangkok.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dress codes are quite relaxing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Things to Consider: Cons of Eating at Ciao Terrazza<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

When there is an event going on at the ICON SIAM on the other side of the river, it could be quite noisy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Outdoor dining = mosquitos paradise<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Could be quite hot from time to time as temperature could be high. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Difficult to make reservation as seats are limited.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
