Michelin-Starred French Dining Experience at Savelberg, Yenakart Soi 2, Sathorn, Bangkok – A Comprehensive Review

Michelin, French, Savelberg, Yenakart, Sathorn

Hello, everyone I am Chifumi Maeda, a Japanese female president living in Bangkok.

Thank you, guys, for visiting this

“True comments from Japanese female presidents living in Thailand” blog.

I’d today like to talk about Savelberg, a 1-Michelin Stared restaurant.

It used to be on the Witthayu Rd. before moved to Yenakart Soi 2 in June 2021.

This restaurant is located diagonally in front of Don Asado, the one that I’ve wrote about the other day.

I was curious for quite some time but when a restaurant is located near,

I for some reason do not choose to dine there.

But we’ve heard that they have a Lunch course only on Saturdays and we’ve decided to dine there.

and now the restaurant is operated in a single standing land-house.

Outside of the restaurant. It is brightly white with a modern architecture.)

Savelberg was given with a Michelin Star for the first time in the Michelin Guidebook in FY 2022.

This gives us enough reason to expect wonderful dishes that they will prepare for us.

Exploring the Ambience: Inside the Michelin-Starred Savelberg

With shiny white table cloth that matches the brightly white appearance of the building.

And the furniture is in black & white monotone color.

Their staffs also are wearing black uniform, everything what you see here are artistic.

The tables are set quite apart from each other, a very relaxing layout.

You can see the garden from the window as if it is a painting.

Birds con to visit the garden trees one after another which is very nice to watch.

Very simple and yet efficient,

this is where you will see the aesthetics of this restaurant.

Epicurean Journey: A Detailed Look at Savelberg’s French Cuisine

They have lunch menus and dinner menus.

But, lunch is only on Saturdays.

The lunch menus are as the following.

They are;

3 course menu

6 courses menu

6 courses menu (Vegetarian)

They do not have wine-pairing however;

they will make few recommendations that will go well with your dish.

My Dear Hubby discussing wine with the staff

We most likely will not be able to finish the food if we ordered 6 course dinner

but as it was Saturday that we went there,

we ordered lunch menu (3 course menu) which they serve only on Saturdays.

The 3 course menu comes with appetizer, main dish, and desert.

There are 3 types of appetizers, main dishes and desserts that you can choose from.

The menu of the day that we went there.

You will be served with “Amuse” until your plates arrive.

(Cucumber Brunoise, Cucumber Granita, Ginger Yogurt Foam)

There were 4 kinds of Amuse Bouche they had on the day.

I am really looking forward to taste the Amuse Bouche

and I am sure that many of my readers are also looking forward to Amuse Bouche when you dine out.

When you taste these amuse, your expectation for your course menu to follow will grow wild.

The appetizer that I had on the day was a choice from “Foie gras” or “Ceviche” or “Tomato”..

My husband had Foie gras and I had Blue crab.

Come to think of it, my hubby also have chosen Foie gras when we dine at Le Normandie .

Savelberg, 1 Michelin stared French restaurant at Yenakart Rd. Sathorn

Foie gras, I was told, had a simple taste so as to bring out all the goodness of the ingredients.

My husband had a medium bodied red wine with his dish.

It seems that when you have a wine with Foie gras,

the wine let the wonderful taste of Foie gras stand out even more.

I’ve chosen Blue crab.

The top white layer is “Cream Fraiche”.

And there are 4 layers under which a layer of avocado, a layer of crab, and a layer of tomato.

The caviar that is sitting on top layer mixed with the salty taste of the crab orchestrate

a wonderful taste of uniformity with creamy texture of avocado and sour taste of tomato.

My hubby, when he saw my plate, the chinaware,

he said

this chinaware somehow has a touch of Japanese ware.

And indeed, the ware had something of “KANETSUGI” element.

You should never do this in a restaurant as it is rude but when I took a look on the back of the plate…,

It clearly read “KANETSUGI”.

It was not the real Kanetsugi but showed that it was inspired by the Japanese Kanetsugi.

Note: What is KANETSUGI?

Traditional Japanese technique for repairing broken ceramics and glassware with gold.

There are several theory, but it is said that it started around the 14th century.

Now comes the main course.

My hubby had “Wagyu Hanger Steak” medium rare.

Have the steak with the Parsnip that came with on the plate creates flavorful taste.

I’ve tried some and it was a vegetable that I had for the first time. The taste is similar to Fennel.

The sauce was “Tomasu soya sauce”, the only soy sauce brand in Europe.

I had white asparagus, my favorite.

I was told that it is from Holland just like where the chef is from.

Savelberg, 1 Michelin stared French restaurant at Yenakart Rd. Sathorn

It is one of the vegetable in Europe that represents the coming of the spring.

It came with mushed potato and Beurre Blanc Sauce.

When I know that it is available only for a certain season, I cannot help not trying it.

And for the dessert, my hubby had “Forest Mushroom”.

It is with white chocolate, vanilla and yogurt mousse, pistachio sponge, marshmallow.

Savelberg, 1 Michelin stared French restaurant at Yenakart Rd. Sathorn

It almost looks as it is a poison mushroom but it is pop and cute.

If you have sweet tooth, you would like it

but it is probably too much for me as I am not good in enjoying sweets.

My hubby, a sweets lover, loved it and finished it all.

I had Baiser Pappollion.

A dessert prepared with chocolate mousse, yuzu (Citrus junos), and orange.

In the center of the ball, there hides bitter-sweet orange neutralizing the sweetness of chocolate.

It was quite refreshing.

Is it because of the atmosphere?

Or is it because of dining in a relaxing ambience?

It was not that big volume but we felt quite full.

We’ve enjoyed our dessert with coffee as they were quite sweet.

Coffee came with canelé and cookies

but as it was much too much for us to enjoy them there, we took them home with us.

We didn’t realize that we spent so much time there.

We’ve enjoyed the restaurant not only the foods

but also the beautiful tableware, the services, and the space.

We spent a very luxurious time there.
