Authentic Hokkaido’s Tokachi Herb Beef at Peko Hokkaido Kitchen Bangkok
Unique Features & Highlights of Peko Hokkaido Kitchen
Peko Hokkaido Kitchen is a beef specialty restaurant
located in the middle of Sukhumvit Soi 49 that opened in 2016.
There are restaurants in Bangkok that sell beef,
but Peko Hokkaido Kitchen sells beef “Tokachi Herb Beef” from Tokachi, Hokkaido.
Thailand originally did not have the custom of eating beef,
but due to the relaxation of beef import regulations and changes in Thailand’s eating habits,
beef consumption was in the rise.
Ms. Kawai also tried importing Tokachi Herb Beef from Tokachi Hokkaido to Thailand and sold them,
but he realized that different cooking method for each cut was not well known,
so he decided to open an antenna shop that connects the producer, the farm,
and the food preparation site, the restaurant.
This is the background of his opening the Peko Hokkaido Kitchen.
Peko Hokkaido Kitchen Bangkok Experience: Ambiance & Culinary Ratings
The Cozy & Welcoming Ambiance of Peko Hokkaido Kitchen
Peko Hokkaido Kitchen is designed in a country style,
reminiscent of a private home on a ranch,
and has a calm atmosphere.
There are about 30 seats…
Although the restaurant is not very big,
the tables are placed with plenty of space in between,
so you can enjoy your meal in a very relaxed atmosphere.
As the owner is a woman,
the restaurant has an atmosphere where even women can feel free to come alone.
And of course, male customers are also welcome.
A Deep Dive into Peko Hokkaido Kitchen’s Gourmet Dishes
Since it is a beef specialty restaurant, the menu focuses on beef.
Obviously, they use the Ohira beef introduced at the beginning.
Furthermore, the rice served in the restaurant is also carefully selected from Hokkaido produced rice.
The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner,
with a wide selection of set menus as well as a la carte options.
My office is near Peko Hokkaido Kitchen,
so I go there relatively often during lunch time.
The set menu comes with salad and soup in a cup.
You can choose between Caesar dressing or sesame dressing for your salad.
The soup is consommé soup.
For menu items other than spaghetti, you can choose rice or bread.
All of the items on the menu are delicious,
but these are the 4 that I often order.
If you want to fully enjoy Tokachi Herb Beef,
I recommend the “Beef Steak – Casual Steak 150g”.
It has a good balance of lean meat and fat, and a strong, wild taste.
It has a taste that makes you feel the great nature of Hokkaido.
A dish that was very popular with my Thai friends was the
“braised ragu in red wine sauce with three types of cheese.”
A rich cheese flavor with a deep red wine flavor.
Although it is a Western dish, it goes perfectly with rice.
I also finished the sauce.
For those who love fried foods, I recommend the “100% beef minced meat cutlet”.
Menchikatsu or minced meat cutlet is often prepared with minced pork,
but at Peko Hokkaido Kitchen, they use 100% carefully selected beef.
Batter is thin and the sweetness of the beef spreads when you put it in your mouth.
It’s so delicious when it’s freshly fried.
The last dish I would like to introduce is “Hamburger Steak with 3 Kinds of Mushroom Sauce”.
The hamburger steak alone is delicious,
but the three types of mushroom sauce make it even more delicious.
I introduced four menu items that I often order,
and all of them are elaborately prepared and delicious.
But every time I look at the menu,
I get confused and have a hard time deciding.
They are so delicious that I would like you to try them all one by one.
I’m writing this blog just before noon, and I’m starting to get hungry.
