Okura Cruise” is a new dinner cruise offered by Okura Prestige Bangkok Hotel.
This is a luxurious cruise where you can enjoy traditional Japanese beauty
and gastronomy while cruising elegantly along the Chao Phraya River.
This time we also enjoyed the cruise to celebrate my husband’s birthday.
What is Okura Cruise?
Okura Cruise is a luxury dinner cruise to be launched
by Okura Prestige Bangkok Hotel in mid-December 2024.
Guests can choose to enjoy either kaiseki or teppan cuisine
while enjoying the night view along the Chao Phraya River.
The ship’s interior design incorporates traditional Japanese aesthetics to create a special moment.
Menu Options:
- Kaiseki Cuisine
- Teppan Cuisine
Embarkation and disembarkation will take place at the Asiatique Riverfront.
After registering at the SIAM TEAROOM restaurant,
you will wait gracefully for boarding.
Step Inside: Japanese Elegance on the Okura Cruise
Traditional Japanese Materials: Hinoki and Tatami in Design
Hinoki, a traditional Japanese building material, is used for the ship’s interior.
Tatami mats, used in Japanese houses, are also used in abundance.
You will feel like you are in a traditional Japanese ryokan with the warmth of the wood
and the aromatic fragrance of the room.
The elegance of this Hinoki adds to the ambiance of the cruise.
Relax at the Sake Bar on the Deck
A bar specializing in sake is located on the upper deck of the ship.
The tatami-matted room recreates the atmosphere of a tatami room,
allowing visitors to enjoy sake in a relaxed atmosphere while feeling the river breeze.
A wide variety of sake is available to satisfy both beginners and connoisseurs.
Savor Kaiseki Cuisine with Impeccable Service on the Okura Cruise
Unparalleled Service and Attention to Detail
From embarkation to disembarkation, the attentive service provided by the staff was outstanding.
The attention to each individual, from ordering drinks to the timing of food service,
made for a very special hospitality experience.
Authentic Kaiseki Cuisine Inspired by Japanese Tradition
You can choose between two types of cuisine on the cruise: kaiseki and teppanyaki.
This time, I opted for kaiseki cuisine.
The kaiseki dishes I had were faithfully reproduced in the Japanese tradition
without being arranged in a Thai style.
I was impressed by the chef’s attention to detail in each dish,
which was both visually beautiful and delicately flavored.
Japanese cuisine is a way of experiencing the seasons through the tableware and ingredients,
and as the cruise was still in the New Year period on the day we enjoyed the cruise,
we could feel the Japanese New Year through the food.
Many of the ingredients and seasonings are imported directly from Japan
and are successfully blended with local ingredients to achieve an authentic taste.
Dining Amidst the Stunning Chao Phraya Night Views
During the cruise, the night view of the Chao Phraya River
through the windows enhances the beauty of the kaiseki cuisine.
The view of the illuminated Wat Arun and the Royal Palace was particularly breathtaking,
and the night view of Bangkok blended perfectly with the Japanese cuisine.
