[Hotel Review] InterContinental Pattaya Resort: Experience Luxury at Baan Sai Chol Private Pool 1-Bedroom Villa, Thailand

Hello, everyone I am Chifumi Maeda,

a Japanese female president living in Bangkok.

Thank you, guys, for visiting this

“True comments from Japanese female presidents living in Thailand” blog

140 kilometers southeast of Bangkok.

It is 2 hour drive from Bangkok.

Pattaya where it has been, and still is, prospered as a beach resort.

Many bars and clubs make it famous as a “nightlife town” however,

that is just in some areas and once you are away from such area,

you are in a very quiet seaside town.

My dear hubby and I often visit Pattaya as it is the beach resort that is easily accessible by car.

Therefore today, I would like to talk about InterContinental Pattaya Resort

where we have been staying the most when us husband & wife visit Pattaya.

Open lobby. Winds running through the lobby give you wonderful resort feeling.

Discovering the InterContinental Pattaya Resort: A Journey

InterContinental Pattaya Resort is located on

the Phra Tamanak Hill 5 kilo south from the Pattaya Beach Road.

Royal Cliff Resort where they had several international meetings in the past is next to it.

This area has quite calm atmosphere compared to other areas around.

InterContinental Pattaya Resort is built on the sharp slope of the cliff.

InterContinental Pattaya Resort, Thailand

There are 3 room categories; “Standard” “Executive” “Suites” to choose from that

resides family to a single stayer depending on the purpose of visit.

Map of the whole resort area.

We always stay at Executive where we can also make use of club lounge.

But we wanted to stay this time in Villa which we finally succeeded in our booking of.

My Personal Experience at the InterContinental Pattaya Resort

Scenic Impressions: InterContinental Pattaya Resort

As I’ve mentioned it earlier, the resort is built on the slope;

there are big differences in elevation.

I do my morning walk in the early morning when it is still cool

but my lack of day to day exercise, my leg muscles were hurting the next day.

You can also use cart for your traveling in the premise

but there are situations that the cart cannot make to the front of your room,

you have no other choice but to legs.

There are two restaurants in service.

One is called Infiniti where you can enjoy the panoramic view of the Gulf of Thailand,

and the other one is called ELEMENTS where you can have your breakfast.

InterContinental Pattaya Resort, Thailand
Gulf of Thailand and Koh Larn Island seen from Infiniti

They have very big and impressive swimming pool

it is designed almost like a tough maze in a jungle.

There are pool for little kids and deep pool and

there are guests spend whole day here at the pool area.

I think it is very nice that we can flexibly choose our rooms

depending on the purpose of your visit.

Ocean front room is the most superior room in this class.

You can view the ocean but is not 180 degree view….

If you come there with a big expectation,

you could be bit disappointed with the view that the room offer.

InterContinental Pattaya Resort, Thailand

SUITES

The rooms in this category are 125 sqm.

One Bed Room Villa and 210 sqm. Two Bed Room Villa.

The rooms are one room each and is standing in the ocean front

And has access to club lounge as well.

We wanted to stay in this villa this time and although it was only 2 nights but stayed there.

In-depth Review: Staying at the Baan Sai Chol 1-Bedroom Private Pool Villa

We’ve stayed in Ocean Front room where we can use the club lounge anytime

but we were not fully satisfied and we wanted to once stay in the Villa.

Basically, the Villa has to be booked several months in advance including weekdays as well

but we got lucky because we input the date that

we wanted to go and the system accepted the date.

A chance not to missed in a thousand years.

Beach spreads out in front of the villa.

Sunbeds are placed on beach for the guests staying in villa

with towels and water already set.

Scene of the beach

In the mornings, the beach is in a shadow and quite comfortable cool breeze is blowing through.

And in the evenings, you have a beautiful sunset all to yourselves.

It was a short stay for us but we spent hours and hours sitting here.

Villa seen from the ocean side.

Its only 140 km from Bangkok and you are in place

where fresh wind is running through by the sea under the beautiful sky.

Very relaxing.

Villa is accessible both from beach side as well as from hotel side

but as we were utilizing the club lounge,

we only used access from the beach side.

The access to the hotel is through this gate then a walk through the jungle.

Villa is huge 125 sqm. having big terrace, private beach, and sunbed outside.

The villa

You can have your breakfast in the club lounge

or in the villa during your stay there in the villa.

We had our breakfast on the terrace of the villa and in the club lounge on the 2nd day.

Breakfast on the villa terrace.

You are completely in private when you have your breakfast on the villa terrace.

Our first meal of the day in relaxing atmosphere watching the ocean was wonderful.

Breakfast with the sea view.

We spent our time reading and working here on the terrace.

The villa has living-room and bedroom.

Living-room

Living room has toilet and butler pantry as well as kitchen and refrigerator.

Pantry had a large amount of drinking water as well as coffee maker and etc.

There were also dining table, sofa, and TV.

In the day time when the temperature is high,

we were working here in the living-room.

InterContinental Pattaya Resort, Thailand
Red wine, petit fours, and fruits we received as our welcome drink.

Bedroom is also quite large where you can see the ocean from the bed.

InterContinental Pattaya Resort, Thailand

Closet is also quite spacy and is suitable for long stay without any worries.

Spacy bathroom and showers are both inside and outside of the villa.

I had our morning shower outside.

Amenities were from the Swedish luxury brand Bal D’Afrique.

The smell is floral kind but the smell is mixture of sweetness and freshness,

it really boost up our trip tension.

InterContinental Pattaya Resort, Thailand

There were 2 washing basin, one for me and one for my hubby.

Bathtub was big as well and fully enjoyed it taking bath twice a day,

i.e. in the morning and in the evening.

InterContinental Pattaya Resort, Thailand
Bedroom and Bathroom

It is was stress free as hot water comes out in a good amount,

not like water is not hot enough that is quite common in Thai resort bath,

and tub was filled in no time with hot water.

Sala Ayutthaya where we stayed some time ago had no hot water coming out at all

and as I remembered that, I was quite happy about this.

(See here for Sala Ayutthaya.)

The private pool was quite shallow and it was just for soaking ourselves in the water.

I am 168cm tall and when I stand in the private pool,

the water is only to my knee above.

InterContinental Pattaya Resort, Thailand

If you are a serious swimmer, I recommend you to use the pool there.

I am also a swimming lover thus was swimming in the larger swimming pool like a shark

for about an hour and then went back to our villa pool just to sit in there.

This pool area at villa is very big and we enjoyed Moo Ka Ta (BBQ Thai style)

for our dinner on the 2nd evening.

As it is by the seashore and strong wind is constantly blowing, we had a pleasant dinner.

Moo Ka Ta being prepared.

We ordered sparkling wine and canapes from the club lounge

and had our dinner with enjoying our alcoholic drink.

It was only 2 nights 3 days stay and regretted that we didn’t stay there longer.

On coming home in Bangkok, we immediately tried to book another holiday there

but they were fully booked in January and February next year when we wanted to go.

We were extremely lucky that we could stay there this time.

Analyzing the Pros and Cons of the Baan Sai Chol 1-Bedroom Private Pool Villa

Highlights of the Baan Sai Chol 1-Bedroom Private Pool Villa

You wish it and it shall be arranged.

Access to the club lounge.

This is what I call private villa.

Your sunbed is already there at the beach.

You need not to leave the villa for almost anything.

Living-room and bedroom is separated which is quite relaxing.

Large and relaxing bathroom.

The feeling of treated special will make you feel more relaxed.

Considerations When Staying at the Baan Sai Chol 1-Bedroom Private Pool Villa

Very difficult to make booking.

Quite far to the lobby.

Culinary Delights: My Dining Experience at the InterContinental Pattaya Resort

I’ve earlier mentioned about us having our breakfast in our villa

but we had our second day breakfast in the club lounge.

We wanted to have our 2nd morning breakfast in our villa but food gets cold by the time it got to us.

It is quite far from the kitchen and there is not much you can do about it.

We wanted to have warm breakfast so we went to the lounge for our breakfast.

You can have your breakfast in the club lounge or in the ELEMENTS.

We took a look into the ELEMENTS when we were walking about in the premise of the hotel on the first day.

Amount of the breakfast was quite a lot but so were the guests

therefore we decided to have ours in the lounge.

The club lounge

Lounge was never clouded and when we were there for our breakfast,

there was only a pair there.

Cold meals in the lounge is a buffet style.

There is hot meals menu if you prefer and they will prepare on your order.

I’ve ordered Thai style omelet (Kai tiao), my favorite, and eggs Benedict.

Club lounge breakfast

To be honest, the last time we stayed here,

we didn’t think their foods were that exciting and as we were with our car,

we often went out to have our meals outside of the hotel.

But on this stay, all of our meals were from the hotel and they were all very good.

Club lounge breakfast

We’ve ordered the room-service on the date of the arrival.

We’ve ordered sparkling wine from the lounge had it with pizza margherita.

It was piti that the pizza was already cold but still it tasted very very good.

InterContinental Pattaya Resort, Thailand

If you want to make sure that the food is nice and warm,

having them in the restaurant is the best.

We enjoyed Moo Ka Ta (Thai BBQ) on the 2nd night.

InterContinental Pattaya Resort, Thailand

This Moo Ka Ta is one of my favorite in Thai foods.

I used to eat it quite often when I was making visits to the client outside of the town.

You normally have them dipping the ingredients into several kinds of sauces

but for this time, the meats and vegetables were so tasty that

I had them without any sauces.

You can also have this Moo Ka Ta on the beach or on the room terrace.

If you have chance to stay with Intercontinental Pattaya,

I strongly recommend you to try their Moo Ka Ta.

It was a nice experience and memory that

we’ve enjoyed Moo Ka Ta in the private dining style on this trip.

InterContinental Pattaya Resort, Thailand

Afternoon teas are served in the club lounge between 14:00 – 16:00.

I am not someone that snacks that often between the 3 meals

so I enjoyed the tea only but there were sandwiches as well so

it could be considered as a late lunch I thought.

Come to think of it, it was raining dogs and cats that there were nothing to do

when we were in Intercontinental Koh Samui November 2021;

we were having the afternoon tea.

Indulgence at Amburaya Spa: A Comprehensive Review

I often visit spa whenever I am on a trip and this time was not an exception and visited Amburaya Spa.

They have a good deal promotion for the guests so it is a must check item.

InterContinental Pattaya Resort, Thailand
Lobby of the spa.

I’ve experienced 2 hour course aroma massage and my hubby a Thai massage.

Before the aroma massage session, you will choose oil.

I normally choose oil depending on how I feel on the day rather than the efficacy of the oil.

I went for citrus smell Detox oil on this day.

InterContinental Pattaya Resort, Thailand

Waiting with a cup of tea until the session starts.

InterContinental Pattaya Resort, Thailand

I walked from the villa to this spa and we had to make through quite some ups and downs on the way.

It was quite refreshing and relaxing with acidity taste of Roselle tea

and cold towel with peppermint smell that they provided on our coming in.

Now the massage starts.

The treatment room was so huge that it was too luxurious to occupy the room just by a person.

InterContinental Pattaya Resort, Thailand

The room is equipped with shower, toilet, sauna, and bathtub.

I should have went for the course rather than a single treatment.

InterContinental Pattaya Resort, Thailand
They have dry sauna

It was a very fast 2 hours.

We had cup of hot tea after the session,

sat along the beach to enjoy our relaxing times.

InterContinental Pattaya Resort, Thailand

This was when I was confident that a spa experience on a trip

is the thing that I would not want to miss.

Weighing the Pros and Cons of InterContinental Pattaya Resort

Outstanding Features of InterContinental Pattaya Resort

Very quiet and calm atmosphere as it is away from the bustling streets.

Able to choose the room depending on the visiting purpose.

With a large swimming pool that allows you to enjoy all day long.

Wind blows through the premise as is located on the top of the hill.

Foods are good.

Staffs give you their best services.

InterContinental Pattaya Resort, Thailand

Potential Drawbacks of InterContinental Pattaya Resort

Differences in the land level are quite tough for those with lack of daily exercise.

As there are not many different restaurants in the premise, long stayer may get tired of.

No sea view from the swimming pool.
